HI! I’m Ashley, and this is my very first blog post! I am so excited and nervous and somewhat confused but…I think that’s normal, right? Because I’m a little uncomfortable, I’m sharing this comfort-look (it’s like comfort food, but clothes): a t-shirt dress, jean jacket, cute block heels, and MASSIVE sunnies. I think it is so important to feel comfortable in what you’re wearing and for clothes to convey your mood, whether it’s cute and casual like this look OR its your best comfies while you go on a Netflix bender.
About me and why I started a blog:
I’m in my late twenties living in the San Francisco Bay Area, with an absolutely amazing husband (he truly is a wonderful, supporting man) and our dog, Monty (he literally looks like a teddy bear). I’m a full-time physical therapist and I absolutely love my day job. In the past few months, I started thinking more about sharing my love of fashion, lifestyle hacks, and my daily life, and I took to Instagram to spam my friends with pictures of my outfits and pretty things (sorry, guys).
I’ve spent months thinking about starting this blog. At first it was just an idea I was bouncing in my head, nothing real or serious. Then I actually TOLD someone (I told my hubby, and that made it SO REAL). Then I told more, and more people that I was thinking of doing it. And before I knew it, I had a domain name and had started setting up this site.
What I learned while working to start this blog:
I was on a roll, until I sat down to write this post (umm, weeks ago). I kept thinking, “What am I supposed to write here?” After a few scrapped posts, I realized I was trying way too hard to be something I’m not. I realized that starting this blog has taught me A LOT about who I am and what I want this blog to be.
I’m severely sarcastic and speak in hyperbole most of the time. Although I’m quick-witted, I’ve learned enough to keep a lot of that to myself (my internal monologue is tough to keep quiet, sometimes). Talking fashion, lifestyle, scrolling the ‘gram, and how best and most efficiently to consume coffee are among my pastimes. I’m passionate and empathetic, and those Amazon commercials tend to make me cry (I mean the dog with the baby COME ON). I love working out, trying different things, and pushing myself just outside my comfort zone whenever possible. I’m a feminist and care a lot about the environment.
I think it’s important to be unapologetically and completely true to yourself, but in starting this blog I’ve learned that doing so is really hard! It’s difficult to be open on this kind of medium. An instructor once told us, “Get comfortable with being uncomfortable,” and I think that’s pretty good advice for most things that inspire growth. So I’m going to learn as I go, but thought I’d start carving out my corner of the internet right here.
PLEASE comment with any feedback and advice!
