Guys…I did some DAMAGE at this sale. But it’s alright, Sheldon knows I do this every year and I only buy things that I will have for years to come. There were some gems in this sale, and I wanted to share with you guys what I actually purchased (and what I loved and almost purchased)! Did you see my post about my early picks for the sale? Check it out (I’ve linked all my early picks in that post). I did a mix of online and in-store shopping (I’ll discuss that below), so some of the items are still on their way to me (thank you online shopping!). I tried to get as much of my shopping done early because things are selling out. Luckily, Nordstrom made the first couple days of the sale 10x point days because of some site glitches, so I have some notes to look forward to for sure!
The sale this year was CRAZY. I mean, it crashed the Nordstrom website…that is just insane. Goes to show how many quality pieces were on sale this year. I got a lot of pieces in multiple colors (once I find a basic, I need it in every color). I’ll share with you a couple of my looks that are mostly from the sale.
Shopping the Sale
I have a strategy for shopping this puppy. I start online and scroll through the sale section, tossing stuff in my cart that I like. I don’t necessarily buy everything I put in my cart, but I keep my eye on it. I’ll select the option for “Pick up in store,” and watch to see if it goes suddenly from available to no longer available in store…that’s my signal that this item is probably going to sell out, so if I really want it, I better order it. I’ll do an online order for the things I know I want…basics, jackets, etc. Then comes the fun in-store shopping.
My friend and I headed to Nordstrom as fast as we could after work on Thursday to try on as much as we could. I was also curious about seeing the Rebecca Minkoff purses in person so I could decide on colors (guys, it was tough to pick). After I tried on A TON and picked out my favorites, I bought a few pieces and ordered everything else I wanted online. There are still things I’m keeping my eye on, like some jeans, but I’ll share those below!
My Favorite Purchases
Look One – Sweater and Booties Fall Uniform
Look Two – OTK Boots and Structured Jacket
Look Three – Crop Jeans & Pink Mules
Look Four – Slip Dress & Cardi
One thing I didn’t buy: jeans. I have a few pairs of raw-hem jeans, and I’m really in the market for some black jeans and flare jeans. If you don’t have raw hem jeans or distressed crops, NOW is the time to get them! There are a few I have my eye on, like this pair of Paige denim (they have a super pretty raw-edge) and these lightly distressed Hudsons. They are both sitting in my shopping cart while I keep thinking about it!
- Black jeans: like I said, this pair of Paige denim or these Hudsons (and here’s a non-distressed version also on sale)
- Raw hem: this AG pair…I tried it on and it fit well and true to size, but was a little stretchy for me (I have a few Lucky Brand pairs that are super similar, so I didn’t purchase them). If you are in need of a simple, comfortable, flattering skinny jean, this is your ticket.
- Distressed Flared Crops: PERFECT to go with mules this fall! You have to get them! I picked up some pairs from the Shopbop sale earlier this year (Mother Denim and a pair of BlankNYCs), so I am super excited to share that Mother denim has a piece of flared crops on sale! I love them, and they are usually SO expensive, so take a look! There’s also this pair from Topshop that is less than $50!
Moral of the Story
Happy shopping! Don’t forget to sign up for my email list to the right…I’m updating my emails in the coming weeks and would love your feedback! No more than 1-2 per week! Thanks guys!
