Happy Sunday everyone! We have had a busy summer…and it’s not slowing down anytime soon! We were so lucky to get the chance to spend some time in San Diego with some friends last weekend and had a blast! It was a restful and exhausting weekend all at once…the whole vibe of the weekend was super relaxed and care-free, but we definitely packed in a lot of activity in less than 48 hours!
Sheldon (my hubby) and I flew into San Diego pretty late on a Friday night and met some friends at a brewery and had some much needed beers after a long and busy work week. After a long work week, dealing with the airport, and a bit of travel, nothing’s better than a delicious beer. If you’ve been following the blog, you know my obsession with breweries and my love for beer tasting (click here to read about our most recent beer tasting).
Deep Sea Fishing Adventure
The next morning, we were up bright and early to go deep sea fishing! Well, I shouldn’t say bright, it wasn’t even close to light out yet…but on three-ish hours of sleep, our little crew got on a fishing boat and headed south out of San Diego. It was at least a fourteen hour day on the boat, and as a group we caught three Dorado…which I didn’t find out until way late were actually Mahi Mahi (which I love, so I was so excited)! The best part? I reeled in one of those bad boys! Guys, it is such a rush and so much harder than I thought it would be! Since it was a long day and we didn’t have too much action, it ended up being a day of relaxing, napping, and drinking beer (which is a great day).
We spent the rest of the evening at the AMAZING house we rented in Pacific Beach. The whole house was gorgeous, but I was stuck on the amazing backyard. There was a beautiful pool and a cozy nook to relax in. I mean, I am all in for any nook…but this nook was awesome. It was a shaded, cozy spot that would be perfect for reading a book on a relaxing summer day. This is the epitome of backyard goals…we don’t have a house yet, but this is definitely on my mind as some inspiration for outdoor living spaces down the line!
Easy Vacation Look
I also wanted to share my favorite travel look: jeans and a tee. Are you surprised? I just posted about my three favorite tees, so of course jeans and a tee are my go-to look when traveling. They are super versatile outfits and require no thought when traveling…because the last thing you want to do when you are out experiencing a fun vacay is think about what outfit you are going to wear. So…jeans and a tee to the rescue! I am seriously so obsessed with these Madewell Perfect Summer Jeans. They’re high-wasted and not too stretchy…perfectly structured and flattering. I also scored these sandals from Target that are amazing $25 dupes for a much more expensive pair. I’m wearing one of our beautiful new layering necklaces and arabesque earrings from Stella & Dot to perfectly accessorize this low-key look.
We had an amazing experience deep sea fishing and I highly recommend it. If you are ever in San Diego and want to go deep sea fishing, go with the amazing guys of Alicia Sport Fishing. So accommodating, professional, and helpful. They also cooked us breakfast and lunch and it was delicious! And let’s be real — it was obvious that I was a newbie, and the guys were so nice to me…even when I kept getting squeamish about hooking my own live bait (guys, eww…I got it eventually, but eww). Here are a couple shots from our fun day:
