Besides pumpkin spice lattes, boots are the best thing about fall. Nothing is better (or easier) than a simple sweater, booties, and jeans for fall.
I’m sitting in bed sick while writing this post. Whenever I’m sick, I pop on reality television and chug water to heal…so naturally I’m watching the Kardashians 10 Year Anniversary Special. I’ve noticed that the more busy I get, and the more demanding work gets, the more I just want to turn my brain off when I’m relaxing. I’ve been gravitating a lot toward comedies and reality television in the past year because of that. And guys, I don’t even know if I can call it my guilty pleasure anymore…because I feel no guilt LOL. I love it! Comment below if you support me in my reality TV ways…I know I’m not alone! HAHA!
Anyways, boots are my favorite. This heat wave going on in California right now is killing me because I can’t dress for fall yet. I’m just so much more comfortable wearing cozy clothes and layering up. I’ve always preferred cooler weather…I don’t know if that’s because I grew up in such a hot climate and always wanted cold weather, but I’m always happier in from fall until spring.
It’s so funny, because my husband prefers summer so much…even though fall means football, LOL. He’s always gets excited during the warmer months, so I guess we balance each other out on that one.
Below, I’m sharing my three must have categories of boots for the fall! Read along, and if your boot collection needs a little love, be sure to check out my picks!
This deep wine red is such a classic fall color, and it’s dark enough to be somewhat neutral while still adding a pop of color to your wardrobe. The exact booties I’m wearing are from last season and are my favorite bootie ever…but unfortunately, they’re no longer being sold (I’m heartbroken). Luckily, I’ve found some amazing, almost identical booties to give you that dose of wine red to add to your outfit. These Sole Society booties [ HERE ] are so similar, but have a little bit of texture to them (which I love). They’re nearly sold out, but come in an olive green color with more sizes available.
If you’re feeling the wine red, but want a more breathable option, this open-toe option from Sole Society is also gorgeous [ HERE ].
I also wanted to highlight some other dark-hued booties that are perfect for fall. I love these perforated open-toed olive booties from Toms [ HERE ] perfect for transitioning to fall, and it’s on sale for under $65! And I can’t do this post without talking about velvet and leopard print…too perfect of trends for fall for me to miss! Check out this deep blue velvet bootie from Steve Madden [ HERE ] and this leopard print bootie (under $35!) from Target [ HERE ].
Over the Knee Boots
I LOVE over the knee boots! I got this gorgeous slouchy pair [ HERE ] from the Nordstrom sale over the summer and I love it. The trim has subtle perforations to make it interesting and the block heel makes it super comfortable. It also comes lower heeled version [ HERE ] that is identical but without the block heels. Each of these options comes in four color/fabric options, so be sure to take a peak!
I’m planning on styling these ones with a faux leather brown skirt this fall, and I’m super excited to find the perfect skirt to go with these!
I’ve also really got my eye on these gray sleek over the knee boots from Sole Society [ HERE ]. I’ve been looking for a smooth and stretchy over the knee boot for fall and winter…I’m envisioning it with faux leather leggings and a sweater…how cute does that sound?
If you’re only looking to add one pair of these statement boots to your wardrobe, I would either do a black option (like what I’m wearing), or a neutral taupe option. Keep it super simple and versatile, and I really think these Vince Camutos have enough options to punch that ticket.
Neutral Everyday Booties
These split-shaft neutral booties are such an essential for fall. These can go with literally anything. I’ve already blogged about them [ HERE ] when talking about wearing shorts and booties for a perfect transitional fall outfit. And guess what…these booties are on sale for less than $80 right now! Such a steal for a basic you will be wearing nonstop. Shop them [ HERE ]. Target is carrying a great dupe right now for less than $35, and you can shop that option [ HERE ].
You need a neutral bootie if you’re anything like me…running late and just need to be put together: BOOM, your neutral bootie. It goes with any wash of denim and will always be your go-to bootie for casual days.
