HAPPY NEW YEAR! It’s officially 2018, and I am ready to kick this year’s butt! I wanted to start this year by sharing this pretty faux leather skirt and over the knee boots. Also, it’s finally resolution time, so I thought I’d share some of my resolutions with you as well!
New year, new me, right? Eh, not so much. Honestly, I hate that phrase. It kind of implies that old you isn’t good enough, which couldn’t be further from the truth. I think the new year isn’t about reinventing yourself as much as it is about self-reflecting and making conscious goals for bettering your life. New year, same me…but a little older and a little wiser. But the same amount of champagne consumption.
Last year was a year of NEW. I had new travel experiences, new career opportunities, and a new side-gig with this blog. This next year will be a year of hustle…in a good way. My physical therapy career is going to be full of fun challenges as I start a post-doctorate fellowship program. This blog will also be a challenge in how I grow it and which directions I go. And of course, we will sneak in some travel. I can’t live without it!
I have a few specific resolutions and some more mindset ones. Here they are:
- Practice not caring what people think
- Run at least one mile per week (hey, you gotta start small)
- Get ready for bed at 9 pm on weeknights
- Enjoy the journey; don’t live for the destination
- Create schedules (for blogging and work) and stick to them (I use an Erin Condren planner; I love the hourly format but they have other options)
- Complain less; focus on positive thought and talk
- Write in my Q&A Journal every day (a gift from my sister, it’s a five year journal)
- Cut down on potato chips. My kryptonite
- Meditate a few times per week. I’ve use the Calm App a couple times and really like it
- Read more books (I’ll count audiobooks, lol)
I’m sure I’ll come up with more in the next couple weeks. I think it’s also important to know that these are goals for me…there will be nights I stay up late and days I crush a bag of potato chips…that doesn’t mean I’m a massive failure, it just means I slipped up on my goals. No worries, there’s always tomorrow. I think a dangerous thing is to stick so tightly to new year’s resolutions, and then be so hard on yourself when you mess one up. Just make some goals for yourself and pick yourself back up when you fall down.
FAUX LEATHER SKIRT
Now on to this beautiful faux leather skirt. I got this skirt a couple months ago, but wanted to share it now because it’s on sale (limited sizes left) and faux leather skirts are going to keep being so stylish well into 2018! I found a few similar options and some other pretty skirts that are perfect for the new year below!
SHOP LEATHER SKIRTS
I paired this skirt with these ESSENTIAL gray over the knee boots! Like, you need them. In fact, I just got another pair (in another color, because they also come in tan and black) when they were recently on sale! I’m usually a size 8 in boots like this, and a size 39 is perfect (my toes don’t feel crowded at all).
I also paired this pretty look with the gray tie-sleeve sweater and this cozy gray scarf. I love that this look is casual-chic and cozy as the weather stays chilly. And for me, January means wearing a lot of pretty grays with pops of color, so this outfit is absolutely perfect!
